@lauren I found Linux Mint rather non-tech user friendly. I is imo designed for Windows users and requires practically no tweaking.

However, I find the MS Office replacement (Libreoffice) having a UX from the stoneage, and overladden.

Thunderbird as the Outlook replacement works fairly well, but needs tweaking to access MS Exchange. And it is sloooooow when starting.

Not a gamer, so can not say anything about that in Linux.

@lauren One plus of all Linux Distros: Updates and Upgrades run smoothly and fast, not like Windows Updates runni9ng for very long times.

On what criteria do you asses that the instance is far too large with 200k active users?

@feditips It happens mostly wenn I open a post to see all replies, then the connection to the remote db of another instance hangs. It is thereofre my assumption that it is not a problem of my instance, which I chose exactly for that reason: size, and proper funding. with a noticeable dev and support team.

the error messages appear on the left side like balloon tips, unclickable and without an error code or similar. the message disappears within seconds.

@feditips what are these constant network errors about, each time the session needs to fetch parts of a thread?
