@ve3qbz It kicked off in March of last year. So yeah, the weather still wasn't great. But it wasn't "winter" to my mind.
Mastodon Ham Radio culture is amazing.
I am following 4 active threads about REALLY INTERESTING STUFF. On top of that, I see insightful commentary that makes me think about the hobby and how I enjoy it.

I went to Hamvention this year. I know EXACTLY why membership is going down. Mortality rates are gonna take the org out at the knees if it doesn't sit up and get relevant to younger (and hey, I'm 50 here and YOUNG in that room!) operators and those who have a more than passing interest in the hobby.
And YES! The outdoors crowd is a great place to start!
That might mean a little less emphasis on contesting...cuz man...contesting is expensive and exclusive in a lot of cases. Ya know?
