“You cannot make peace with dictators. You have to destroy them, wipe them out!” - Sir Laurence Olivier as British Royal Navy Admiral Horatio Nelson in “That Hamilton Woman,” 1941. #MoviesOfMastodon #TurnerClassicMovies
Yes, I know, there are people out there who despised the U.S. before the Mango Mussolini and his fucking goon squad got back in there and I do understand where those people were coming from in feeling that way but while not perfect, it was something to hang onto and continue to work on. These days, though, with what the FOTUS and his goons are doing and crickets from Congressional GOP types, I’m afraid it’s too late. And it’s just not good.
Cartoon by Michael de Adder. The Germans, more precisely Hitler, were convinced the Allied invasion of Europe would take place at the Pas de Calais and not Normandy. Imagine if Adolf had access to a group chat.
Emily Jazmin Tatum Perez was a West Point graduate. While serving in Iraq, she was killed in action by an I.E.D., the first black female officer in U.S. military history to die in combat and the first female graduate of West Point to die in Iraq.
The video documenting why she chose to serve in the Army and in combat has been deleted by the Army under the Trump Administration.
Erasing her from the collective memory of America will not be tolerated. - Mel Tansill
Not to detract from Nik’s good work or the point here but there are actually two U.S. Army airborne divisions that are air assault - the 82nd and 101st.
“Like many of the thousands of federal workers caught in the crosshairs of President Donald Trump’s efforts to shrink the federal workforce, Bushno has spent the last few weeks frustrated and confused. But as a veteran, he views his treatment by the new Administration with a different lens.” - Nik Popli https://apple.news/AQoKXPaOIQBuQO4-Ef7ppAQ
Sgt. William Carney, a member of the 54th Massachusetts Colored Infantry Regiment, was the first Black American to earn the Medal of Honor. He was awarded the medal for fighting at Fort Wagner, South Carolina in July 1863. The 54th’s failed assault on Wagner is the climactic scene of “Glory,” during which Denzel Washington acts out Carney’s battlefield heroics. - Task & Purpose
These are terrible times — the worst I’ve lived through, and I’ve lived through some bad ones. (Remember 1968? Nixon’s enemies list? Anyone old enough to recall Joe McCarthy’s communist witch hunts?) But as long as we are alive, as long as we are resolved, as long as we are taking action to stop the worst of this, as long as we are trying to make America and the world even a bit better — have no doubt: We will triumph. - Robert Reich
I can’t even begin to express how fucking LIVID I am. I wanna hit somebody, preferably fucking Pete Hegseth and his fucking punkass boss, the FOTUS. And that little motherfucker President Musk and “Mr. Project 2025,” Russ Vought, too. Oh, I found a photo of the LTC on the DoD website but that’s about it. The motherfuckers erased his story from the fucking website. Fortunately, others exist that include his story but as far as the DoD, not so much.
