I think it needs to be spelled out fairly clearly: spurious reports with no legitimate reason for submission are absolutely an abuse of Rule 7, and will be handled as such.

Reporting brand new accounts because they haven't had a chance to fill in their information yet is a very good example of this. It's uncalled for, it wastes our time as moderators and admins, and is emblematic of an unwelcoming attitude towards new comers on the instance. From this point forward, we aren't going to tolerate actions like this anymore.

The report system serves as a way to report legitimate grievances against the instance rules, and it should absolutely be uses for that. Spurious reports only makes it harder for us to act against legitimate ones.

Important lesson folks, when trolls or hate peddlers try and get you react in a certain way, whatever you do... DON'T. It's what they want, they feed off of it. If it's a troll it's so they can laugh at you. If it's a hate peddler, it's so they can play the victim and use it against you.

Don't bite, don't give them what they want.

Ya know what, I'm willing to take a bullet on this one and say something openly. I'm 70% positive that @Are0h is a right wing troll. He seems to be using dog whistles to try and secure support, while attacking critics as racists. It's very apparent that he's playing it up, likely as a troll. Now, there is a smaller chance he's actually a legitimate leftist who has gone so far to the left, he came back around on the otherside... Horseshoe Theory is real after all.

That said, whether he's a troll or he actually believes the crap he says, he shouldn't be taken seriously in any sense. How whole premise behind #TheBadSpace is completely flawed to begin with, and reeks of the blocklists that circulated around Twitter previously. It's a bad influence on the Fediverse and it's a toxic, lazy way of handling the moderation of an instance. That's not even mentioning who his Blocklist actually targets either...

He should be ignored, utterly, left to shout in the empty room he deserves.

FYI for y'all, if you see the account below, you may want to give it a block. It seems to be part of some sort of data gathering/analytics thing for analyzing social media. I don't really care what the purpose of it is, I'd prefer not being involved in such things from outside sources like this.

@crashdoom you might wanna consider blocking this instance? The idea of a semi-anonymous account doing data gathering for outside analytics isn't that comforting overall, no matter what cause it claims to be for.
