Sis came out for my cancer surgery late 2023 and brought her dog Krypto. My running friend gave me a little stuffed bear while I was in the hospital recovering and when I got home Krypto adopted it. This was the scene when they packed up to drive back home. I still see the bear in photos she sends, it is his comfort bear.

Other sights along the way. These two were a highly vocal welcome committee when I started off. The crows up above were a different kind of welcome committee for the hawk, considering how windy it was they all had quite the flying challenge. Finally spotted the beaver's den alongside the lake. And, unless we come up with a new sport, the rope swing sits idle.

Skied rail trail and discovered they'd groomed it. Would have brought skate skis if I'd known. Still, I had a tailwind both directions so nothing to complain about. Stopped along the way to check out the chipmunk condos.

We started regular hikes during the pandemic, checking off sections of the Appalachian trail going through NH and VT. On one of those family hikes West of Norwich, in the course of scanning the forest for mushrooms, I noticed this little puffball.
"Food!”
"oh hi little birdie”
“Food!”
"looks like you just fledged, have you tried looking around for bugs yet?"
"FOOD!”
"right, well, we’ll get moving along so the parents can come help you out. good luck!”
“F O O D ! !”

I lent my old fat bike to a friend who summited Mt Moosilauke (1460m/4790ft peak) with it today. Well, he said only 19% rideable going up, but 100.7% rideable down.

My previous dog was a black lab mix.Steady, reliable, we walked and biked everywhere and he'd be right beside me with or without a leash. Our friend’s dog was just the opposite, flitting about, hard to control even with a leash. Then I hit upon the idea of having my dog walk the other dog. It was 99% perfect. I made this little comic about the 1% issue.
