I think there's a subset of ppl who are interested in astrology not because they believe in it literally, but for social-rhetorical reasons. It signals comfort w/ epistemological ambiguity + an irreverent attitude towards the dominant epistemological paradigm of our time (which is upstream of not caring about looking smart). Would explain why ppl who are generally on board with science will tell you they're a Virgo etc. (ofc a lot of people just believe in it literally)

Assisting people with blindness and other vision issues is more than reason enough BUT if you still need to be convinced of the need for alt text, remember that things don't always work smoothly in the fediverse (for the same reasons we like it!).

...there can be image display issues, and when that happens, alt text is helpful for 100% of users.

I'm working on an article about whether reasoning models’ outputs or “chains of thought” faithfully reflect their internal processes or not. I want to know how researchers evaluate "faithfulness." How can they be sure chains of thought aren't hallucinations?
