I gave a homeless woman some cash & a ride into the city yesterday. She had a college degree. Education doesn't prevent people from falling through the cracks.

I wasn't scared of her, just scared of letting her down by not doing enough. Don't be afraid to talk to homeless people. We talked about anime and she laughed when i said I only like anime if it has cats.

Wish I could have done more. I hope my conversation & treating her like a normal person gave her a boost, along w the ride & cash.

Why mutual aid is better than giving to charity (a few of many reasons):

- your money has the most impact on someone's reality if you give it directly to them. none goes into overheads, processing, payroll, marketing, etc

- real people right now have dire problems that cash can instantly solve

- your community (the place where you belong, not a distant separate place) improves and so your life benefits

- people's lives, when you boil down all the world's problems, are the highest priority

@dmoonfire yes exactly!! i wanted to portray how easy/simple it was for my ex to be so cruel, and i don't have a good way of doing that without the word there!

Watching the NASA stream of the eclipse in each city in the path is kind of an emotional rollercoaster for me! As each group experiences it I feel what they feel. And then we go to the next city!
