Just saw advice to newer writers saying being a full time writer is terrible, not worth it, and don’t do it.
I want to tell any creative person: There will always be naysayers. Do what’s right for you.
I’ve lived my whole life making room for creativity and am currently a full time writer who really enjoys it!

“In a society where the good is defined in terms of profit rather than in terms of human need, there must always be some group of people who, through systematized oppression, can be made to feel surplus, to occupy the place of the dehumanized inferior.“
Happy birthday, Audre Lorde. Your words still sing.

This is your periodic reminder that prison rape jokes are not funny.

Wishing a good rest to Bob Moore, who turned his company over to the workers in 2010. 700 workers now own Bob’s Red Mill.
(I call Bob’s oatmeal “The oats of righteousness” as a consequence).
Bob lived until 94. That’s a good run.

Snow is coming. It’s rare in Portland, OR, so…
Dropped off hot food and tea supplies for humans at the LGBTQ+ run warming shelter, and just prepped provisions for the birds and squirrels.
Stay warm, friends!

Regarding this terrible behavior by Overdrive regarding not letting a parent w a trans kid continue to work remote so they could flee Ohio: https://merida.hair/notes/9odc2ueuu11ku1qr
I definitely encourage people to tell their libraries about it and ask if they can pressure Overdrive and/or find an alternate library portal!
But…. A thread

Humans fill this world with violence, trauma, and heartbreak, every day.
So grateful for those humans who fill this world with compassion, creativity, and joy.
Don’t give up.
