That's closer to the concept of "Pay It Forward", which is much more in tune with the spirit of mutual aid than the notion of "charity", which implies a more personal reward (such as a tax break).

Until that day comes, however, people in need will continue to need help to get them through troubled times; and those who wish to help them out of kindness and empathy unconditionally should be respected and honored, not mocked or devalued for not attempting to squeeze aid seekers for "favors".

Either way, the best means of reducing and eliminating such "begging", if you don't consider it proper "mutual aid", is to adequately provide services, compensate work non-exploitatively, and provide safety net firewalls to prevent such circumstances from happening to begin with.

No Mutual Aid crowdfunder puts a gun to your head and forces you to donate to them. Nor are we asking for "charity", as if we consider it your "burden" to help us. We ask only out of empathy for our recurring conditions that are mostly out of our control.

Such corrosive attitudes towards marginalized people facing personal and economic strife is the very reason we need a robust and unconditional social safety net. People should not have to be dependent on the kindness (or corrosive exploitation) of strangers.

The basic concept of unconditional support of people in need has always been tainted and warped by those with power and privilege as a weapon to impose conditions and exploitation on marginalized people seeking relief from unequal conditions and events.

So, this person (posting at Bluesky) labels herself as an "anarchist", but here she implies that people who ask for survival funds should either prove that they "deserve" such funds or give something back in the same or greater value as whatever aid they receive.

As if Mutual Aid is a loan or a contract.
