There's a lot of bad news from #Florida and #HurricaneHelene, but here's a story of planning that seems to have worked.

I was just looking out the front door and saw the woman across the street checking the mail. She is an older #Haitian woman, who has been the home health care aide for the much older woman who lives in that house. For years.
She is always there, taking care of our seniors, and these guys punching down at these important members of my community really makes my blood boil.
These guys need to be shut down so hard.
Did I miss any climate change questions yet? I just went to the kitchen and I didn't recall any....
Honestly, this is impressive even to me--living in the land of the #Storrowing
Hat tip @HenricoPolice.
Ok, it's now overdue, but it's going back today--I swear.
The Other Significant Others by Raina Cohen.
Loved it. At first I thought it would just be a series of vignettes of people who lived out-of-bounds like I do, and I almost didn't press on.
Glad I did. She uses the quirky life scenarios as a way to illustrate the hurdles and barriers to life outside the cultural boundaries.

I got German #Measles in the 1980s (not sure why, I was vaxxed, also had mumps later). I remember them bringing in all the trainee docs to see it because nobody except the older doc on service had seen it before. Sigh.
Don't let's go there again. Please. It's unnecessary.

So, today I was here. This was one of the most unusual historical marker signs I have ever seen.
Charming. Serious. And #NinjaTurtles. #TMNT

Paul Parkman, an inventor of the rubella vaccine, dies at 91
His work helped identify — and eliminate from much of the world — a disease that can cause catastrophic birth defects and fetal death.
Holy moly. I didn't think I could love #DollyParton more, but she's come out in favor of #GMO #chestnut restoration!

Well, that's a switch. A guy in a diner in NH on ABCNews tonight...
Diner asks Tim Scott: "If you can't stand up to Trump, how are you gonna stand up to the President of China and Russia.?"
Good question.
@MastodonEngineering I had a weird thing happen today and I can't get rid of it. At the top of my caturday column I have an offer to follow this hashtag. I don't want to follow it, I want it to just flow into this column.
But I can't get rid of the header thing.
Does anyone know how to remove it? Or should I report that somewhere?
I just realized that twitter barrier--apparently you need to be logged in now--also prevents people from seeing the emergency things like weather, earthquake, transit issues...
Those services have to leave there. They should have before anyway, but now it's not a public venue at all.
@gbhnews Yeah, we understand this. But still: you have full control--not at the whims of a psycho with more money than sense, or a government, or whatever.
Also: you get the added cred of verifying your own team. It's hard to know here who is legit, imposters are easy to create in this system--an institution server is a good solution to this.
