I miss the #internet of the early #90s; the highlight probably being #IRC - #Internet Relay #Chat. The internet hadn't really made it into the average Danish home at this point, so getting access meant you'd have to be a student loitering at school or someone working at a large computer company or telco. Although I've been chatting with these people for ages - some for decades - there are still some I haven't met face to face yet. Once in a rare while it happens, but mostly unexpected as I don't visit IRC that often any more. One turned out to be a coworker. Another turned out to be my department head. Weird how that goes.

I've been using the #Kensington #ExpertMouse wireless trackball for ages now, and I'm super happy with it. It does #Bluetooth as well as proprietary with a dongle and at home I'm using the dongle. Here's the weird thing - my #Linux workstation often refuses to wake up by pressing the keyboard until I take out the trackball dongle and plug it back in. It's like it's locking up the #USB stack somehow. It's been like this across different distros and kernels (currently #Debian unstable), and AFAIK it doesn't do this under Windows. USB device is 047d:8018 - "Kensington Expert Wireless Trackball Mouse (K72359WW)".

Tips or theories? There is a wired version that might safe me some grief at the home office, but I'd prefer not having to replace it just yet.

I can't believe it took me so long to get started on #ThimbleweedPark. Bought it a while back, but didn't take the time to try it out. It's awesome. A true love letter to the point and click adventures of the late #80s and early #90s. I'm enjoying the hell out of it.
