The only relief is when the forests get fed up and turn on the air conditioning for everyone.

But this year a whole lot of trees burned down, and people love "cleaning up" land by burning whatever grows on its own.

Eventually there won't be enough trees left to pump up water and form the low clouds that protect and rehydrate the land. I fear that day is coming soon.

(in plains) I remember pointing a thermal camera at the concrete roof outside my first-floor room and being in disbelief as it read out ~70°C. This was about 7 years ago. I'm afraid to even think what it's like today.

And once that threshold is crossed, these beautiful hills will start turning into a barren landscape. I've seen this happen where I grew up, I don't want to see that repeat here.

Don't be fooled by the coastal areas under 38°C, the humidity there makes it worse.

Gave all four doggos a good drenching on their heads, they shook off the water and seem to like the cooling effect.

They usually are jumping to meet every time I step outside, not today.

The peach tree is ripening a handful fruits at a time, and I'm loving finding these treats every few days.

The web is dead to me. Managed to keep the thousands of ads at bay for years but now the "consent" and newsletter popups and the non existence of "reject" button, instead several misleading steps to just look at a paragraph or two of text doesn't seem worth my time.

And even if I jump through the artificial hoops, there's no guarantee that a human wrote the text

Either I'll build agents to fetch the data I need or I'm not engaging. The concept of www is no longer fit for humans as consumers.

Looked up how tall Mullein usually grows, median answer is 6 ft, one site says up to 10 ft/ 3m.

My exuberant plant that's ~ 12ft/4m tall is looking down and laughing. Will save the seeds and share around. Heh, I love the idea of thinking of plants as Earth's middle finger to entropy that rules rest of the universe.

Funny how cloud computing took the worries from "Will my servers keep running under spikes?" to "Will I be able to afford the bills without going bankrupt?" and how hobbyists crave to get burned by this again and again 😬

Let companies with other's money to spend have the luxury of digital cattle. I'll stick with my small pet servers that have names 😂

The kicker is all the myriad scripts people have had to write to get rid of unused cloud resources that keep adding to your bills since there's no straightforward way provided by the cloud service company to deal with them.

The services are specifically designed to extract rent. Not difficult to see, unless you're not the one paying that rent.

I admire the cleverness of the business model for grabbing VC money via every startup with web scale dreams, but that playground isn't for a hobbyist.

Rode through smoldering aftermath of a forest fire. It was fine till late evening yesterday when I rode past this same stretch. This summer has been very dry, I hope it rains soon!

Chipping away at #Yakrazor - have big plans, but small spoons.

I'm liking the new mock UI, now to implement the code to make it tick. Once this code is at par with the basic prototype, I'll open up the repo to public.

Making steady progress on #Yakrazor between cats fighting, dogs going berserk over spotting a large rat and chores.

Managed to check off the remaining tasks for #Yakrazor repo to be made public.

Naturally, I had to build a task manager that works with my brain to accomplish the above. It only took a day to build a prototype, and two more to make it usable while going off on side quests required to complete remaining tasks.

I call it Yakrazor.

The most important feature: treat task list as a stack, because every tangent off of a task needs to be done before returning to previous task.
