This week, I've been listening to the complete Wattstax '72 recordings that were recently released. It's an amazing collection of live soul, funk, and blues in remembrance of the Watts Riots seven years before. Tons of familiar samples keep popping up.
What's most fascinating is that they include all the audio of people telling the audience to get off of the football field and back into the stands, like this full *20 minutes* of Billy Eckstine literally moving the crowd: https://songwhip.com/billy-eckstine/there-is-a-curfew-here-live-at-wattstax-1972
