Went on a short trip to Zennor today. When we weren’t in the 700yr old pub next to the open fire, we were in the even older church (sat atop what was once a Bronze Age village). Here resides a 600yr old chair depicting a mermaid. The legend goes she was enticed from the sea by the singing voice of a man in the church choir. They both fell in love and disappeared together into the sea, never to return.
Mr Cox has just started a channel for his lifelong bonsai hobby. If you’re into miniature trees, gardening or fancy a bit of slow telly, I invite you to take a look and maybe subscribe.
(Plus I helped with the filming and would equally love for you all to watch it. 😄)
Ventured to an ancient hill fort. Can still see the ditch and ramparts. Sadly, back in the 1700s a local rich family went and robbed some of the stone to make this rather ugly folly right on top of it. It looks like a stereotypical sandcastle design. Nice views though.
Spent a good chunk of the day rewriting the opening of my WIP. I've (depressingly) heard agents know in the first 500 words if your MS is worth reading further.
The opening chapter now reads a lot better, but I can make it even better.
Folklore suggests it acted as King Arthur’s dining table before his final battle. He must have needed some bloody high barstools if that was the case. Because up until the early 19th century, you could ride through it on horseback without ducking. Its current inauthentic and shorter stature is due to its botched restoration by the Navy after a lightning strike.
#WritersCoffeeClub In your opinion, name a book, movie or #TV show where the ending spoils the story.
Lost.
Completely failed to tie up the majority of the big questions and gave us that weak stream of piss of an ending instead.
It put me off investing my time in future multi series tv shows. The first series is usually good, then they get progressively weaker until it becomes a cash cow serving only the diehard fans.
I’m trying to think of all the incorrect stereotypes attributed to writers. You know, drinks coffee, owns a cat, can only produce brilliant work when incredibly depressed, etc…
