      Amaru (mythology)
      In mythology of Andean civilizations of South America, the amaru or katari (aymara) is a mythical serpent or dragon. In Inca mythology, Amaru is a huge double-headed serpent that dwells underground, at the bottom of lakes and rivers. Illustrated with the heads of a bird and a puma, Amaru can be seen emerging from a central element in the center of a stepped mountain or pyramid motif in the Gateway of the Sun at Tiwanaku, Bolivia. When illustrated on religious vessels, amaru is often seen with bird-like feet and wings, so that it resembles a dragon. Amaru is believed to be capable of transcending boundaries to and from the spiritual realm of the subterranean world.On Inca mythology it is described: "Dragon or rather a Chimera of Inca Mythology.     Users feel more comfortable using tech that is supported by a faceless company. Moreso than tech that is supported by Some Guy.

    The ambiguity of server rules being dictated by what that guy ate that morning just sucks. Companies have policies, user protections, etc

    I’ve heard some talk about better versions of a contact list coming soon. Maybe an NIP coming.

    I know @alex used to run a business where you pay him a monthly fee and he spins up and maintains your activity pub relay for you. Maybe he can reboot that business for Nostr relays if there is enough demand 🙏🏼 or @86add3ab can do that with the Cosa Nostr tech stack

    I think my favorite part of all was that the user OWNED their own data.

    The user could tombstone (overwrite as null) their own stuff. Or even just overwrite to edit it.

    It felt like the user had real, actual freedom. They weren’t at the mercy of server operators.

    I have used GunDB a lot in the past. It’s awesome and I miss it. The graph database aspect in particular was genius. It just wasn’t very stable. @4523be58 started a rust port of it, but then switched to Nostr.
