I heard this today and apologies for no link, but if you vote early via any method, once your vote has tallied, meaning you voted has been received, but not necessarily counted, your name is removed from the GOTV (Get Out The Vote) rolls, allowing those working GOTV to focus on those still to vote.

Unfortunately it won’t stop the texts and emails though.
