This analysis from Media Matters was published pre-debate, and we'd guess the numbers skew even more now: Much more attention to Biden's cognitive issues than Trump's despite closeness in age and many examples of Trump saying things publicly that indicate problems of cognition and memory. https://www.mediamatters.org/washington-post/top-newspapers-fixate-bidens-age Again, #Biden's candidacy is a big story, so is #Trump's
Veteran newsman James O'Shea on the history of newspaper crusading and what the #NewYorkTimes is doing now with its all-out blitz on Joe #Biden's future, with some great perspective on the #journalism questions I, Dan Gillmor and others have been raising about this crusade.https://jeoshea.com/blog/the-news-crusaders#USPol
#Biden refusing to drop out isn't just hurting our chances of beating #Trump. The GOP is running ads all over the country targeting senators like Bob Casey saying, 'Look at Biden. How long has Bob Casey known Biden was THIS bad.' and it's working.
If Biden stays in this race, we lose the presidency, we lose Congress, we lose it all. The Democratic party is being cratered by the hubris of one ridiculously old man.
But, if he loses, at least he can say he tried his best, right?
What I need to be able to support #Biden (just to be clear I will vote blue no matter what)
1) A full physical and cognitive evaluation, released to public
2) A reasonable explanation for his steep physical decline, including stiffnees, shuffling gait. If it isn' Parkinson's what is it?
3) Stop with the lies. I don't need another Feinstein propped up in a wheel chair with assurances s/he is fine.
If it is PD or something similar these neurological disorders sre serious and this information was with held. They don't end well and cognitive decline is part of the equation. Some cases have a slow, long trajectory. This one seems rather rapid, like my father. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Rhe White House and Biden are in denial. It's bad enough Trump had multiple psychological impairments...
I was wondering why people insisting the #Biden economy is great feels like gaslighting, and it’s because it kinda is. #USpol
From 1979 to 2022 productivity has increased 64.7% while hourly pay has gone up 14.8%.
Healthcare and education costs are still high, leaving many in crushing debt.
Housing is increasingly unaffordable to the point where the average salary (~$60,000) is not sufficient to buy a home in much of the U.S. Homeownership is a major source of wealth for most families. /1
Day #23 of listing the top reasons I'm going to #vote for #JoeBiden this November.
Under #Biden, job growth in Biden's first three years has outpaced the first three years of any President in history. Were that not enough, salaries are outpacing inflation.
This #NATO Summit Is a Big Win for #Biden The alliance’s resurgence since #Russia’s invasion of #Ukraine is a signature achievement. By Michael McFaul
..."That NATO can also celebrate its powerful resurgence since the Russian invasion of Ukraine is a signature achievement of U.S. President Joe Biden. Under his leadership, the alliance has expanded to include two well-armed, strategically savvy new members, Finland and Sweden. On Biden’s watch,. "...
[[Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) said Sunday he thinks it would be “totally reasonable” for former President Trump to investigate President Biden if the presumptive GOP candidate is elected to a second term in the White House this November.]]
If the #Democrats lose the election and start getting into prison by corrupt dictators colluding with corrupt #SC I will be worried about the country not those sleazy self-serving politicians.
Now the Supreme Court says he is immune from ordering his Justice Department to lie, and the evidence of his malice, his very words, may not be used as evidence against him. Under this ruling, a president can order the assassination or jailing of their political rival, and be immune. They can take a bribe in exchange for an official act, and still be immune. They can organize a military coup to hold onto power, and still be immune. If that sounds mad, that’s because it is.
This is a day that will live in legal infamy.
When justices on the Court that bears Roberts’ name, paid back their appointment by a corrupt president with an opinion that provides immunity to all corrupt presidents, and weakened our democracy and the rule of law for the ages.
Our only remedy is the ballot box, a new congress, and a new Court — that has more reverence for the Constitution than the lust for power.
