@tchambers@ScottStarkey I would definitely love it if some of my ideas were to get implemented in Mastodon’s default theme. But I’m also not sure they’d be welcomed by the team — and I wouldn’t feel motivated to work on PRs that will never get merged.
@tchambers I might be a CSS witch, but not much more 😅 — so every time I think about submitting a PR I get demotivated by the fact that I would have to re-implement my ideas in whatever Mastodon’s using for the frontend.
It looks like, if Threads knows you’re a trans person, it may just start bombarding you with transphobic posts in your For You feed — even if you’ve never interacted with that kind of content on the platform before.
@theLUCASTDS@Gargron In reality most big accounts on Threads just won't care enough to opt in, imo. If they're even aware that the option exists, that is.
On Trans Day of Remembrance, we try to remind the world that trans people keep dying everyday without acknowledgment.
Many of us will even try to honor their memory by giving life one more chance to fight for our right to a better future.
A future where the idea that trans people deserve access to proper care, dignity, rights, and a roof over their heads, is not just an antagonizing tool for fascists to manipulate their way to power.
Yesterday on TV, when asked about the Pope criticizing the way the EU treats refugees, Emmanuel Macron replied by implying that France is actually very welcoming because last week it concurrently welcomed the freaking King of England, the Pope in Marseille, and spectators of the Rugby World Cup.
Friendly reminder that you meet trans people everyday. You just don't know it.
Keep that in mind the next time you're about to share your unsolicited opinion on trans people, whether it be in the workplace or in any public space, really.
The absence of full-text search — among other things (all of which fall under bad UX) — keeps people away from this platform, so yea, it definitely helps reducing harassment if there’s fewer people using the thing after all 😅
I see no reason why full-text search can't happen so long as it’s an opt-in feature.
What will actually help prevent harassment is, as always, a continued focus on moderation and moderation tools.
