"Aber seltsam: Ein Großteil der Bevölkerung glaubt an Wunder und Mythen. Denn nicht heute ist der Nationalfeiertag, nein, das ist der 1. August. Der ist ein Märchentag: 1291 war angeblich was mit einer Wiese und einem Schwur und drei mutigen Kantonen (bis heute die konservativsten des Landes), die sich zusammenschlossen gegen die Habsburger. Schiller hat mal was darüber geschrieben."
"[...] merely physically beating back the fascists is not the issue. We need to study what accounts for the mass psychology of fascism and then defeat it ideologically, going to the core of the deep-seated racist beliefs, emotions, and authoritarian conditioning of those workers who support fascism and all police state authority." ~ Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin (from Anarchism and the Black Revolution) as quoted in The Nation on No Map - William C. Anderson
We are stuck living here, surrounded by reactionary assholes and bullies, who are so loud that we can never even sit outside to enjoy the summer and who literally don't let us breathe, because the air is so fucking thick with perfume in the morning and smoke from their balcony fire places and grills in the evening. The rent just got even higher, to the point of almost no longer payable. Yet we can't move. Because of the pandemic and all the high-risk situations a move would entail. I am so done.
Everyfuckingthing is getting more expensive. Rent, extra charges, health insurance, electricity, public transport, postage and even our small allotment garden, that is supposed to support us in sustenance. How should this be feasible? It is a continuous shift of funds to the top. The poor get squeezed to their last dime, while the rich get ever more rich. Filthy rich.
@anarchopunk_girl Yes, the more of the text i read (in portions, having a low energy day), the more questions i have. More curious now, what Peter meant. @PeterGelderloos
"when you love someone, it simply makes no sense to endorse a social technology that isolates them, privatizes their lifeworld, arbitrarily assigns their dwelling-place, class, and very identity in law, and drastically circumscribes their sphere of intimate, interdependent ties.”
"The family is the reason we are supposed to want to go to work, the reason we have to go to work, and the reason we can go to work. It is, at root, the name we use for the fact that care is privatized in our society. And because it feels synonymous with care, “family” is every civic-minded individual’s raison d’être par excellence: an ostensibly non-individualist creed and unselfish principle to which one voluntarily signs up without thinking about it.”
"All too seldom is parenthood identified as an absurdly unfair distribution of labor, and a despotic distribution of responsibility for and power over younger people. A distribution that could be changed."
“For all purposes except capital accumulation, the promise of family falls abjectly short of itself.”
"On the other hand, the family is where most of the rape happens on this earth, and most of the murder. No one is likelier to rob, bully, blackmail, manipulate, or hit you, or inflict unwanted touch, than family. Logically, announcing an intention to “treat you like family” (as so many airlines, restaurants, banks, retailers, and workplaces do) ought to register as a horrible threat."
I believe i sound like a broken record. But please listen to those of us who have it, you do not want to risk to get #LongCOVID. It's a horrendous disease and the way we get treated by large parts of the medical establishment makes it much worse.
"At In-N-Out Burger, we've communicated with our smiles since 1948, and a smiling Associate helps to set a warm and inviting atmosphere in our stores," Warnick wrote. "We believe that wearing a mask literally adds a barrier to communication — much of which is nonverbal — and promotes a more distant and disconnected environment." ~ Denny Warnick, CEO of In-N-Out Burger
"I never thought wearing an N95 mask would qualify as a form of civil disobedience, but that’s where we’re heading, isn’t it?
A properly fitting N95 mask represents a truth that fascists hate being reminded of: Nobody ever achieves anything by themselves. Sometimes, the best way to protect yourself also means protecting others. A mask reminds them that their rugged individualism isn’t real."
"new mask guidelines that emphasize the importance of customer service and the ability to show our Associates' smiles and other facial features while considering the health and well-being of all individuals."
In-N-Out-Burger bans masks for their employers, unless they have a medical note.
