*Were* a Helsinki - Tallinn rail tunnel ever built, where would the line enter Tallinn? The two arrows appear the most obvious.

Western one: where is the tunnel portal? But no reversal in Ülemiste

Eastern one: easy to find a place for the portal, but then reverse trains in Ülemiste. So then why not make Balti Jaam the Rail Baltica station instead?

@HauntedOwlbear Protmex PTH 5. PTH 4 is similar, but doesn’t measure temperature. Both are cheap and accurate enough for my needs - for me having a battery was important and these do. Micro USB to charge. I’m very happy with it.

The only issue: bikes didn’t trigger the exit gates. Only vehicles did. So once the first truck was out we could exit the port area!

Malmö bike infrastructure. They’ve been learning a few things from that city across the Öresund 🙂 #CrossBorderRail

SJ has put these big stickers on the doors indicating which door to use for which seats. Do these work I wonder, to stop passengers boarding the wrong end and crossing in the middle of the carriage as they often do in DB ICEs?

EDIT: folks trainsplaining me, do you really think I’ve not seen ICEs have these numbers too? They do, and I use them, but they’re much less obvious

I’d have really loved a train trip without 😷

But the train has every seat reserved, and where’s the one passenger coughing and snivelling and sneezing into his hands (and not washing them)? Yeah, in the seat next to me 😡

Wow. An elk 🫎 outside the window north of Hässleholm. Thankfully a fair distance from the track! Never seen one on a rail trip in Sweden before…

I’ve crossed the Öresund bridge many times on #CrossBorderRail but until today never sailed under it 🙂

Oh and I got into Sweden without a border control

Yes, my ferry ticket was in my name and I had to give an ID number. But there were no police to be seen upon arrival in Malmö

As on previous journeys the air quality on this X2000 is the best of any air conditioned train. Consistently below 700 PPM.

And when it runs of course I’d favour the Berlin-Hamburg-Malmö-Stockholm #CrossBorderRail night train here. But Finnlines Travemünde-Malmö is a great ferry route

It’s a huge but basic ferry, mostly truckers on board, and it’s so calm. I slept very soundly. No partying on board. Only a tiny duty free shop. I really like it - and generally I don’t like ferries.
