clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Thursday, 24-Oct-2024 14:51:32 JST clacke We have two branches of our favorite Japanese Italian restaurant in our area, one ten minutes walk one direction, one ten minutes walk another direction.
- Oh no, you say sarcastically, that sounds awfully far and inconvenient, that's like two malls away from your mall.
- I know right, I say with a straight face. And the dilemma of picking which one too! Thankfully they're finally opening a branch in the mall across the street, solving both problems. -

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Tuesday, 22-Oct-2024 18:15:58 JST clacke The new release of #factorio is out.
According to Steam, it's had a stable average of 20k concurrent players in the last 4-5 years, except for a 30k+ peak in late 2020 when I guess a new release came out.
Now it's at 90k concurrent players.

My fantasy project will have implementations in all of them. You know, when I find the time. When I've retired, I guess. In 20 years.

A fragrance ad, but that's not important. What's important is that it's Margaret Qualley dancing intensely and expressively, probably part directed, part improvised, through glamorous but stilted environments.

@akuchling Hi! I just came home from the cinema an hour ago and I see that you saw the same film two weeks ago that I just saw. I hope you don't mind a bit of a wall of text. 😅
(this is a thread separate from yours, as I wouldn't want people to stumble into a thread of uncovered spoilers)

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 21-Oct-2024 14:49:03 JST clacke I think for a bit after the split it was possible to believe that they had one consciousness that hopped bodies – Sue was marveling at her new body, she knew exactly what she had to do when she woke up and knew why she was there, and on the first switch it was kept ambiguous what Elizabeth knew or didn't know – but after they had switched back and forth for the second time it was clear, as you noted, that starting from the split, they had separate experiences and consciousnesses and could only speculate from the traces of the other's actions.
Sue hated Harvey, but all she wanted was to get back to being famous and adored, the only thing that had ever brought her joy and meaning. I'm sure it's not the first time she had to work with and be at the whim of someone she hated.
Getting the job back herself, without him even knowing it, was the only form of revenge that was available to her.
Neither Sue nor Elizabeth even had the decency to dress the other and make her comfortable, she was so self-obsessed that she didn't have any consideration even for herself.
She hated not only Harvey, but also herself and her aging, and that's why she could never be One, and why the Balance never had the slightest chance of working out.

clacke (clacke@libranet.de)'s status on Monday, 21-Oct-2024 14:48:49 JST clacke As I was watching the movie, in the end I was thinking that it felt a bit like a revenge fantasy a la Inglorious Basterds.
Coincidentally, or maybe not at all, Qualley has been in a Tarantino movie, and Fargeat's previous big movie was "Revenge" (2017).
