I'm not sure you can describe that as volunteering.
Legally speaking, 12 year olds are not capable of giving consent.

The thing about toxic masculinity is that it isn't just toxic to women. It's toxic to men, too.
I wish there was a concise enough way to communicate this. As Berlin was falling, the Nazis were calling up their blonde, blue-eyed Aryan 12-year olds to be cannon fodder against the advancing Russians.
To fascists, everyone is a tool to employ in pursuit of their power. Everyone is instrumentalized.
My greatest worry is the reality that a fair number of people enjoy being instrumentalised.
@PricklyPam One of the greatest mistakes made by Democrats is taking each of these criticisms as serious and reacting to them.
There was never any limit to how high the media would make her jump, because she's a woman and because she's not white.
It's not at all a little thing. Nor is it a dumb, tiny thing. It's a victory.
It is how elections are won.
@jeffowski
*grin*
But I think you have changed a bit, no? Because you can see this stuff so clearly now.
I am so sorry this happened to you. And so very glad you have clearly found a better way for you.
I know that sounds hyperbolic to many people. But I simply cannot see how, once the people around Trump invade and corrode the judiciary, the military, the quotidian arms of bureaucracies and public services that you engage with on a daily basis, it is almost impossible to claw them back without a dramatic conflagration that requires everything to be rebuilt from the ground up.
And history bears me out on this, over and over. You don't get your democracy back without tremendous upheaval.
There is a lot wrong with the American system. In my life I have been a fierce critic of it. It's swamped with self-interest and big money. It accommodates and whitewashes staggering amounts of racism and prejudice of all kinds. Its foreign policies have often been monstrous.
But it still contains the mechanisms by which it can be made better.
Authoritarian systems do not have that capacity. That's their feature, not their bug.
And the irony that I encounter among people who disdain voting for the 'least worst option' is that they are captured by a kind of consumerist fantasy that democracies ever offer perfect options. They never do. Often all they offer is the possibility of voting for someone better next time.
With Trump, there will be no next time without incredible levels of violence.
What scares me the most is how many Americans just cannot imagine their #democracy can collapse. They picture it in post-apocalyptic terms, like in movies. They tie their sense of identity to a single issue that becomes the only thing that matters to them, and cling to it even as the entire landscape shifts around them.
Those who've lived in non-democratic countries know: fascism, autocracy, totalitarianism happen quietly and by inches and by the time you realize, it's too late.
@GottaLaff I already blocked her a while back. Frankly, she icked me. Just way too much enjoyment in jabbing the knife in on shit that doesn't matter compared to what we're facing right now
It’s three weeks until the election.
If you get pregnant today, and Trump is elected, by January 6, your body will no longer be your own. No matter what state you live in.
Do not share your reproductive status anywhere online.
I know you might be thrilled to be pregnant and sure everything will go well, but shit happens. Don’t leave a digital trail.
It’s bullshit that governments can’t do anything right.
Many governments did amazing things.
Free education for all
Public health systems
Disaster relief
Labour laws
Equal rights
Public legal defence
Roads, bridges, waterways, power grids, public hospitals, public housing
Just because you keep voting in grifters doesn’t mean government can’t work, it means you keep choosing tax breaks over everything else.
Okay… what do people not understand: if you feel ill, if you’ve got a cold or cough or aches and pains, or a bad stomach… mask up.
It’s fucking unforgivable to not give a shit about spreading your malady to someone else.
It’s selfish and irresponsible. It’s anti-social and uncaring.
Be kind.

As a strong, independent woman, I have never had a problem attracting men. But I’ve also never had to rid myself of the kind of weak, insecure man who would post something this inane. https://mstdn.social/@NataliaArmyOf1/113237869426236066
It is tragic that there are people who think slavery is a good thing. But Mark Robinson’s confessions of his kinks on the porn site reveal a far more secret and tragic desire. Sadder than his peeping fantasies too.
Mark Robinson wants to be a slave himself and that is the shameful desire underlying his posts. But desire always finds a way to squeeze through the bricks of repression - he’s enslaved himself to Trump. He has made an object of himself. Someone get him therapy.
There isn’t a single Trumper calling Harris a Marxist who has ever read Das Kapital.
Not one.
But I have. It’s a difficult read, and they’re lazy mother fuckers
If this is what happens to a town because it refused to repeat a lie Trump told on stage for attention, people better truly understand what may happen when he loses the election.
People need to seriously understand and prepare for some serious chaos.
