The most insidious thing about racism on Mastodon is how it is done in such a way that the majority-white user base never sees it. I don't think that it's simply a matter of white people not seeing what they don't want to see - at least in the vast majority of cases.

So when a non-white person discusses the racism they see as a user of Mastodon, it must feel like gaslighting when white people respond with "What do you mean? I've not seen anything like that here."

The ability to block an entire instance on a user level is great. But if you're on a large instance, and most of that abuse is coming from users of that same instance, the option is useless.

So, if right-wingers think that a 13 year old girl is old enough to marry into a sexual relationship with an adult male, but don't want frank and honest sexual education for 13 year olds about their own bodies, to the point of attempting to abuse political power to criminalize age-appropriate sex-ed books, they are just telling us their politics are based, in part, on enabling a sexual fetish for naive, uneducated, easily exploitable children. Do I have that right?
