The W3C going for brutal honesty here I see

Reasons I regret ActivityStreams2 (and hence ActivityPub) being based upon JSON-LD include

• JSON-LD is too complicated
• It brings Linked Data Signatures into the picture, which require you to read this document, which admits its for masochists

(Probably don't do Linked Data Signatures. Most implementations get by fine without them)

Other specifications which could use a "this spec is for masochists" admonition include

• JSON-LD
• SIP
• C++
• Every single document to ever come out of the 3GPP

@vyr @Lunaphied @Qyriad IIRC Pleroma also got this feature for all uploaded images a few months back. Pleroma! Of all things!

(And it re-ingests it as the default alt-text iirc)

@whitequark @tthbaltazar @dotstdy @mcc For fixed rate displays, you generally don't want the focused app to control this; monitors have an annoying habit of taking 5-10s to resync themselves when changing fixed refresh rates. Typically only full screen apps are allowed to change the display refresh rate.

Also controlling a mouse on a 24hz display feels awful

This approach probably works better on a VRR display, but probably you want to frame double/triple/etc fixed rate content to as close to the screens native rate as possible to make your UI feel nice

SIP is by far one of the most mindbogglingly complex protocols I have encountered
