@psychicparrot42 you don't technically need to be on steam for your game to be playable on deck, though i'm sure you're aware
@gilesgoat @psychicparrot42 i don't have a steam deck so i don't know but according to a team member if the game has a proper linux build you can just "add non-steam game" in desktop mode and there you go
made an 88x31 banner for my blog (https://enikofox.com)
@HauntedOwlbear what does intercepting embeds mean?
do you ever just. want to
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 😫
@aral good. Withholding vaccines from people just because they're healthy (and want to stay that way) is utter absurdity, especially given the low uptake of booster shots in general
Impressed by the number of people who think this seems like a plausible technological progression:
1. Spicy autocomplete
2. ???
3. General AI
For the record, step 2 would be "invent an entirely new technology from whole cloth which can actually support general AI" since, you know, machine learning models can't, actually
@erincandescent @lofty how do you figure out how much memory to allocate for the executable? since without paging it has to all be in one contiguous block of memory
or are you just supposed to guess?
@erincandescent @lofty i'm not really intimidated by reading binary formats, i'm intimidated by the lack of information on how to support running a PIE on a custom kernel >_> like i get the theory and i can parse a binary format but that doesn't mean i understand what a kernel needs to be able to successfully run a PIE
meanwhile there's lots of information available on MMUs. it looks like a pain in the ass to implement, but at least there's enough information out there that i understand what's required
Getting excited about a rental we found (mostly cause it's cheap which would tremendously help my financial anxiety) and having to tell myself not to get my hopes up cause renting is utter bullshit
Well we passed the first hurdle. Gonna look at it on Monday
And it's pets allowed so we know having a cat isn't gonna ruin things
today is the first day my mom reported an improvement in her nerve pain that started after shingles brought on by a covid infection. she's been in horrible pain for 4 weeks

seeing pushback against procedural generation as a result of alleged "AI" and that's really fucking sad
good procedural generation is hard. good procedural generation is bespoke and intentional. good procedural generation is artistic and creative. please don't lump it in with the slop generated through machine learning 😞
coming into my mentions going "but training machine learning algorithms is hard too weehhhh!" is grounds for a block. do not fucking do it
Anyone else feel like whenever something breaks the only recourse is to buy the newer, much shittier version of that same thing, because nobody makes anything to the quality standard of the old broken one anymore?
fuck it, its happening. we're doing oblique perspective
Brazilians didn't go to Bluesky instead of Mastodon because of some perceived reputation issue with Mastodon involving instance shutdowns. Brazilians went to Bluesky because they had less than 48 hours and Bluesky is the most Twitter like and has the smoothest onboarding process. They went there because unlike English speaking countries (and I'm including European countries where English is not a first language but is widely spoken/understood) fedi doesn't really have much of any foothold among Brazilians and or Portuguese speakers
Feels like there's a type of person on fedi who goes "the fediverse is dying and here's why!" then inserts their pet grievances as the reason every time fedi doesn't come out as the clear winner in some perceived contest. It's exhausting
