It is quite mad in 2024 that coffee shops are so popular. I'm gonna get all controversial up in here and say that Starbucks probably shouldn't be making twenty five billion dollars a year. For context; Crisis have estimated the cost to completely eradicate homelessness in the UK, and Starbucks could do it 10 times over from a single year's profits.

To all you lovely folks still on mastodon.social - I don't know if you're aware, but your instance is being swarmed with spam accounts and bots. Lots of instances and people are defederating/blocking because of it. You might want to consider having a look at switching instances. 😊

Edit - a few people have been worried they'd have to start all over again on a new instance but that is NOT THE CASE! (hurrah!)

You can easily move over all of your following/followers/lists! Simply set up a new account then transfer everything over. The only thing you'll lose is your old toots (and who needs them anyway - that was the old you!).

The more I see this the madder it becomes. Over a hundred couples. In 12 different countries. Guy must be furiously pounding away on himself in clinics across the globe. Just reading about the founder of Telegram (who I'd never even heard of before) who has been arrested. Apparently Telegram has 950MILLION monthly active users so is by far the biggest social media in the world, although I thought it was basically the far right crackpots that use it (which sounds like why he might have been arrested, along with the platform sharing child sex abuse images). However Sky News' rundown on the man in charge is absolutely bonkers...

But I see Fedi like a huge expanding infinite empire of planets and orbitals - some central habitats are mostly civilised and law-abiding (TOO civilised and law-abiding for an outlaw like me), and some of the outer planets are lawless wastelands where you don't know if you're going to find one last big score or get eaten by a sandworm. It's a rich tapestry of life. Dot Social is like the spaceport you travel to from Earth from where you then hitch a ride out to the more exotic and exciting places. A huge, bustling hive of shiny-eyed newbies, commerce, pirates looking for easy pickin's, and sexbots. Don't live in a spaceport. You're not Tom Hanks in Terminal. Go. Spread your wings. Be free. The galaxy is yours. But watch out for Reavers.

Just browsing Snopes and it is BONKERS how much misinformation around there is about Kamala Harris. Like there is an avalanche - a deluge of lies being made up about her. Easily debunked lies aswell but so many. I know there has been a bit of deceit the other side aswell, but it seems plainly obvious to me that anyone must be able to see it's all lies. How can anyone vote for a party that just makes shit up? It's beyond me. Like if I said Donald Trump isn't actually real. None of you have ever actually seen him. He's just an AI. He doesn't exist. He's been made up by your phones algorithm to fuel the culture war. He's just a collection of 1s and 0s. You're getting mad about nothing. He's just code.
