I've seen the analogy here that the federation is such that we're all phones with unique phone numbers, and anyone can contact us or us them, regardless of who our local phone providers are. This sounds like ... if I can't get through on someone's phone number, I have to figure out who their local phone provider is and contact that phone provider for tech support to just call someone.

What I was referring to were profiles (many I've encountered, but I can gather up specific examples if you need them - let me know) that have moved from other instances. Such profiles have the link "Browse more from the other profile" at the bottom of their feeds. When I click on that link, it opens a new window, I am not logged in in that window, it won't let me log in, etc.

However, when I try to look at and interact with accounts on other fediverse platforms, it opens in a new browser window and I'm asked to log in again - and when I do, I get an error message saying my email address or password are not valid. Is this a growing pains glitch, or am I doing something wrong / misunderstanding?
