@phasslr @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is text rendering too slow though? I don't notice any difference between Konsole and Wezterm, which uses OpenGL, and I use neovim with tons of bells and whistles.

Maybe running a terminal benchmark would give us some data to discuss. I did it some time ago, but I can't find the results right now (I'm on a plane).

TIL that, unlike C pointers, a Rust pointer is not just a memory address:

TL;DR: Rust pointers also carry a "provenance", used by static analysis to determine which operations are safe.

This RFC does not say weather provenance metadata can also be tracked and checked at run-time in cases where static analysis would be too restrictive.

@vic @brett Starship uses liquid methane and liquid oxygen: CH4 + O2 => H2O + CO2. That is water and carbon dioxide, as in most kitchens.

Water can only go up to 100°C before vaporizing into a white cloud.

Starship is as environmentally friendly as a rocket could be. If successful, full reusability will eliminate the worst environmental impact of lifting mass to orbit: burning entire rocket stages as they re-enter into atmosphere 😱
