I hope you're right. My main systems are fine, the Ubuntu machine is airgapped and until the SSD fails I will use it exactly as it is. When that time comes I may explore Slackware or revisit FreeBSD, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Tbh I don't know, I already use Linux and Windows 10. Frankly I will just use glacier distros and fringe distros as long as they stay usable and functional.
I'm just seeing a disturbing trend going on, its not just Lunduke's videos, of people pushing to reinvent the wheel with the traditional Linux desktop as you and I know it by forcing wayland and rust down our throats in the name of "security", which is utter hogwash. These insane rust devs are literally demanding that C devs stop what they are doing and help them convert the kernel to rust. I think this is a bad idea, I see nothing wrong with C or C++ and it has been the backbone of modern software since the personal computer took off and became mainstream. This coupled with this bizarre desire or movement to completely remove Xorg from distros entirely is just concerning.
Then you have woke activists that are actively seeking to push straight men with any religious or conservative leanings out of projects, as in the case of NixOS. Many of these men through voluntary effort made alot of the tools we all benefit from on a daily basis. These guys are all skilled enough to work in big tech and never look back.
So I wonder if we may see a future where the vast majority of skilled OG developers get replaced by mediocre devs that write shit code, focus only on CoCs and identity politics, allowing more bloat and brokenness to occur all around.
I hope Im wrong, I really do. However the future looks uncertain for many Linux distros.
Im so down, we could get all the fedi artists on the mix like icedquinn, lunarized, flux the cat, purple lady makes tunes too. We all make drastically different music styles though.
I like as it is, the drums give it character. I just want to do some sample magic to it and add modern jungle breaks to it with a phat 808 of some kind, maybe a dub siren, just give it a DnB flavor. NGL the whole album slaps, can you create more of this??
Im going to bed but all this is bookmarked and saved the remix will be happening just give me time, Im still perfecting shit on my DAW and Ive already said Ill create YT content learning it over again from scratch. My EP should be ready by Hellyween and your remix and others should follow.
Well if I want to interact with people in DnB scene and promote my music it's the best way to go. The whole free software obsession has gotten tired and stale in my opinion. I just want to live my life mate, I've had three women in the past week alone ask me what my insta is. I can still access the site with my arm64 linux board and firefox so it's all gravy.
No, but no limits on the pinephone hotspot has made it possible for me to use my Renegade Elite board with a wifi dongle. Most sites are running fine for me, I even got YouTube's Creator studio to open up for me just fine. I would not be able to do that on the pinephone.
My initial strategy will be to upload a brief video explaining the transition from BSD to being an audio production/DJing/self promotion channel.
Then I plan to record myself learning Jeskola Buzz from the ground up, learning Vital and wavetable synthesis, sampling with the amigo and the TAL-Sampler, then when I can afford it we'll switch to renoise, make some bangers with that one.
I can show viewers how to set up WinUAE and we can smash out some jungle tracks on OctaMED for all the old heads.
I also plan on doing Mixxx tutorials in Linux, plus Renoise on Linux. When I can afford it I will explore Serum (it's a $180 plugin lol). Audio mastering using plugins, and then I will get a copy of Ableton 11 and we'll take off from there.
If I can find some decent music video creating software I want to do music videos for my tracks, and maybe someday live DJ sets if I can get fiber internet.
