Meanwhile I know firsthand and secondhand way too many people that spent 1-3 years' salary on extravagant wedding celebrations (sometimes the end result wasn't even flashy to the point where you'd ever guess they blew $200k on it) only to separate before paying off the incurred debt.
I don't think it's a coincidence that this particular bridezilla's first comment on her upcoming marriage is "yay military spouse benefits", like shit, if I got engaged on this trip, I'd save the "yay spouse visa" bit for after "holy shit I'm finally getting married, my entire life has been preparation for this and I finally found a nice woman who is willing to tolerate me, death of despair plans are CANCELLED"
