The eoc on the radio reports that 90+% of the are was without power today. Full power restoration to all areas is not expected for up to two weeks. Basically the whole power grid was damaged and large parts destroyed, including several transformers.
Even today, pretty much no one without a generator had power.
We were well stocked with food and our water and gas actually stayed functional. It would have been quite bad without water, though we are still drinking bottled.
The grocery stores did manage to sort of get open today, several trucked in generators, but they were running at limited capacity and of course only had dry, nonperishables available. The one I got to was pressure washing the refrigerators to get rid of the smell and such from ruined dairy.
Gasoline is the big problem for many right now as there are only a couple stations operational and everyone is lining up for hours and hours to get some, but I expect things to decrease in severity over the next couple days.
I'm going out early tomorrow to grab some more gas and we will basically be set for the week after that, so long as water isn't interrupted, though we will stock that as it becomes available. We still have some in reserve.
All in all this was pretty bad but the recovery is well underway and I was fortunate, all things considered.
