steam really isn't that bad (compared to other launchers/stores). there is google analytics bs you can opt-out but at least you can use it anonymously. also you should use sandboxing like Firejail of Flatpak if you care since games are often much more intrusive.

i have never heard about valve themselves pulling games from people. its usually the game devs. keep in mind steam drm is optional
