@Lazarou There are three intertwined problems here:
1. Some deplorable people nevertheless still create great art. (How you deal with it is a moral question for the audience to grapple with.)
2. Authors (and artists) are the ultimate branding product: you trust the name implicitly to deliver a good read/tune/etc regardless of the new material.
3. The business of making TV adaptations is dependent on both (1) and (2).
And by behaving badly, an author can poison their own brand.
