@lizzie it seems like borrow checking†, copy/move, and linear typing may remove the need to deal with GCs. though i guess that still puts some cognitive burden on programming and sometimes a language is just there to cram out a job and not be efficient.

† not sure what rust is doing these days. their checker seems to use some huge semantic engine now.
