- Embed this notice@laren @pare I think 5e noticed that 3e became bloated, messy, and kinda hated within half a decade, and decided to shepherd the line more carefully. And, as a result, made a D&D well loved for a decade which is cratering the competition wildly. This is, probably good. But with 3-4 books a year (probably less?) they are definitely feeling the hurt on monetization. Combine that with a management who thinks Digital is the only way to make money, and I think the only path forward is rakes. I think there are staff who see the rakes and go to management "Am I fired if I don't step on this one?"
