The internet was also better then because it was much more a hobbyist thing, far fewer people were on it, and the smartphone with internet access was not widespread yet. It could have been going at 1 trillion yottabits a second and that would be "God's internet speed", lol.

People in industries complain that "kids don't know what folders on computers are" but that was true in the 1990's as well.

The difference is everyone has a smartphone these days (which even literal chimpanzees can use), and there are a lot more browns (particularly sub-continentals), and stupid people, on the internet.
