True, however, it is worse: giving fascists a platform to spread their agenda makes their lies more plausible and credible for their target groups. By repeating them, they become "mainstream" for a big part of the population.
This is working in other countries, too (e. g. Front National, France, and AfD, Germany.)

Many of the US mainstream media are owned by egocentric, sympathetic billionaires wanting further tax cuts for the super rich, only makes things worse.
