Instances of sincere and legitimate purity are praiseworthy, and ought to receive support and even protection when necessary.
Beyond a certain point, when the pursuit of an ideal becomes so cut off from its root that it ends up destroying itself — that’s the level where it needs to be reigned in, and re-anchored to meet the needs of practical necessity that have arisen.
It’s not *crystal clear*, but I think it’s clear enough to make it work.
