You only learned what authentic and inauthentic hadith are today. People have fabricated hadith due to malice or their memory fading from old age. Not every hadith is equal and there are gradings, there is a whole system behind grading hadith.

Furthermore, there are tafsir (exegesis) dedicated to explaining what hadith mean and how to follow the guidance and teachings of the prophet Muhammad (PHUH).

You have to contemplate and study before you can make an informed judgement and if you’re not able to then you would go to those with knowledge.
