- Embed this notice@mischievoustomato Fedi was tightly knit with their own hosted cultures. Granted we did have groups that were local to instances, but everyone on the instance felt more like people rather than usernames looking for clout.
Mastodon has been a platform for people to bring their Twitter habits here and make fedi feel like what I tried to escape. Dealing with instances that block other instances for the most mundane reasons, and people thinking we should give a shit about everything they have to say, has broken the social cohesion I believe once existed.
This is somewhat simplified from what I've written years ago. Mass Twitter immigration has changed fedi for better and worse. We can't go back.
