@augustus i still see this from time to time when people talk about going to conventions or something, it just seems so strange that anyone could still think that. On the other hand, maybe one shouldn't think badly about people who actually kept their opinion ("this is super dangerous and will never go away"), in contrast to 99% of people who could turn on a dime.
