@sashag People in my life still get into this "socialized <gender>" thinking, too, and I understand why. It's materialist, it's sociological, and it does have explanatory power. But I do wish they'd be a little more open to the idea that gender socialization experiences can be complex for trans people. For example, I'm an Eagle Scout, and yet I was miserable in Scouting because the boys in my troop abused me relentlessly and the adults never tried to do anything about it.
