Do you know what it's like to sit as a head of department in a meeting with the other department leaders and the executive team (guess what, all alpha males) and when you join in a discussion everyone looks at you as if you had pulled a toad from your pocket and put it on your head?

And why? Because how and what you communicate is completely opposite to their bragging about achievements and priorities.

They communicate to make out hierarchies and a pecking order.

Having someone join in to excuse for a mistake, make a joke, roll up the blind spots still unknown without fingerpointing and closing with asking the others for their opinion is WILD for these people.

Don't get me wrong. They all were very nice. Just so … alpha male with a deep faith in hierarchies.
