A court filing stressed that the Montana House of Representatives holds “exclusive constitutional authority” in disciplining its members.
The law’s the law. I’m not sure how I feel about it, though. All he did was say he hoped legislators saw blood on their hands. It wasn’t a threat (he was talking about “trans kids’” blood), and he wasn’t speaking out of turn. I am glad the court followed the law, but I think being banned from speaking for the rest of the year was too harsh on the part of the Montana GOP. What the Tennessee legislators did (did, not believe) was much worse.
