I very do not like what is happening to the Farmers. Self-hosting single user was my personal mitigation to avoid getting taken out when a big tentpole instance got knocked down, but even I'm able to understand how that isn't a solution, just an avoidance strategy.

Honestly, I think smaller cells or guerilla instances of tight-knit user groups is the best short- to medium-term strategy right now, with the understanding that sudden relocation at a moments notice could always be necessary, but I can understand how that makes people feel rootless and constantly besieged.
