But for example I haven't seen anything that can replace a good pair of metal tongs.
And wooden utensils have the disadvantage of... being wood. Which means they can for example soak up moisture and feel weird or icky if you need to regularly stir a stew for a long time. Which is also a pain if you have to soak them while cleaning.
The only wooden utensil I tend to use is a slotted spatula, otherwise plastic tends to work better. -
