   @gsuberland @MrDOS In principle I agree, but the user-hostile aspect here is that it offers you a click-through way to turn on a dangerous behavior with no warning that it's dangerous or indication where you'd go to turn it back off.

   If enabling focus-stealing was something you had to go into settings yourself and explicitly enable, sure, that's giving the user the freedom to shoot themselves in the foot if they really want to, and that's fine. It's popping up the offer to switch that on that's not fine.

     @MrDOS @dalias my take is that the user should be free to do whatever the hell they want with their computer and their software, as long as that thing is done with consent and does not harm anyone else, up to and including many things that you would personally find objectionable. it's the same position I take in practically all other walks of life. being beholden to the prescriptivist dogmas of others is not, and will never be, freedom.
