Sometimes I wonder what even goes in the mind of ebook sellers when they put DRM.
Like do they think people will seek to buy per-store ebook readers instead of sailing the high-seas?

@novenary It is but well… why pay for tech that breaks consumer rights, and then crack it anyway.

@lanodan isn't most DRM on ebooks just adobe digital editions? that one is trivial to strip but also compatible with a whole bunch of platforms

@novenary And in terms of compatibility… usually what I see is Google Play, iOS and then a specific list of devices. That by design excludes a *lot* of ereaders.
For example Barnes & Nobles:

@lanodan oh yeah I agree, but I don't really know how much of an issue it is for normies in practice since the major DRM solution is actually cross-platform
either way even my mom has figured out how to download books from zlibrary so :akko_shrug:

@novenary Yeah, I'd more expect normies to use pirate sites than digital platforms for ebooks as there each publisher has their own nonsense and quite often it's like "no we don't want to sell you what you want".
