     #twitter creeping paywallification of basic functionality continues. I could see limit of hundreds being fine regular users while annoying certain high volume spammers, but the fact they encourage you to sign up without specifying the limit suggests it's mostly about driving subs

     Possible it was a much wider campaign and these were just ones in a convenient jurisdiction. OTOH, possible he fired all the people who tracked this kind of thing and had high level contacts with major providers, turning what had been a background annoyance into A Problem

     Suit might be needed to get akamai to identify the customer, but more targeted mitigation than rate limiting every single user should have been possible
