   Hard to know what to make of this. #ClaudiaSheinbaum seems committted to taking over the judiciary in #Mexico. This is what #Orban did in #Hungary. Anyone have an in depth take on her judicial reform?

     @tobie1 it's already part of the Constitution, that the Judiciary power, the the last of the three powers of the Federation will also be elected.

     Mexico has been for many decades the wallet of foreign developed countries and having the court governed by appointed judges allowed to always control the ruling output.

     That's the real change, it's not Claudia who is taking over, it's the México citizens ("the people") who will elect them.

     I suppose that called Democracy, right?

     @ark74 Thanks for the historical perspective. Why the need for an overhaul if the election of judges is already inscribed in the Constitution?

     It got published in the Constitution by president AMLO before he left office, on National's Independence Day, btw.

     Then president Claudia Sheinbaum had to enforce it, as there were judges in the Supreme Court trying to hijack the Congress duties.

     When the court didn't got majority (8 out of 11), the Supreme Court president tried to pass their project with only 6 out of 11 votes.

     All of this is available in video, no need for anyone to trust what I'm saying.

     @ark74 Thanks. That's the judicial overhaul Sheinbaum pursued.
